How to configure Excel application to support Rep2excel

Q: I got the error messages while using Rep2excel. How to fix it.
Error [M:RBC] :Error (1008): An attempt was made to reference a token that does not exist.

Unable to access Microsoft Excel runtime.More info: Run Rep2excel as: apple. Run Excel as the interactive user. Perhaps because:1)apple is not permitted to access Excel runtime;

Unable to access Microsoft Excel runtime.More info: Run Rep2excel as: apple. Error Msg: Access is denied. Excel is installed?: Yes.

A: Please follow the steps below, configure Excel application to support Rep2excel.

  1. Log on to the computer as the Administrator
  2. Click Start, click Run, and then type DCOMCNFG.Select the Microsoft Excel, Click Properties to open the property dialog box for this application.
  3. Path: Console Root \ Component Services \ Computers \ My Computer \ DCOM Config \ Microsoft Excel Application
  4. Right click the Microsoft Excel Application; Click Properties to open the property dialog box for this application
  5. Click the Security tab.
  6. Click Customize for Access Permissions. Verify that the following users are listed in the access permissions, or add the users if they are not listed:

  7. * These accounts only exist if Internet Information Server (IIS) is installed on the computer.

    ** apple is just an example here. It is the user that is used to start your web server.

    Please add the user that is used to start the web server. And make sure "Local Access" is checked.

    For example

    You may receive the mssage like this: Unable to access Microsoft Excel runtime.More info: Run Rep2excel as: apple. Run Excel as the interactive user. Perhaps because:1)apple is not permitted to access Excel runtime;

    Please add the user apple to the list.

  8. Click Customize for Launch and activation permissions. Verify that the following users are listed in the launch permissions, or add the users if they are not listed:

  9. * These accounts exist only if IIS is installed on the computer.

    ** apple is just an example here. It is the user that is used to start your web server.

    For example

    You may get the message like this: Unable to access Microsoft Excel runtime.More info: Run Rep2excel as: apple. Error Msg: Access is denied. Excel is installed?: Yes.

    Please add the user apple to the list. And check "Local Launch" and "Local Activation".

  10. Make sure that each user is allowed access, and then click OK.
  11. Click OK to close the property dialog box
  12. Restart the web server.

APPLIES TO Windows XP, 2003. If you are using Windows 2000 or NT, You have to do minor change.
